When we talk about fashion jewelry, we do not refer to those expesive jewelries made of gold or diamond or platinum. Rather it is referred to the jewelry that can be worn everyday, not necessarily for special occasions and made up of wide range of materilas which are usually cost effective and trendy like silver, wood, EPNS, plastic, beaded etc. Fashion jewelry make a fashion statement. It can act as a stand-alone piece, or an emphasizing item, or as a compliment to the entire daily apparel.

The main purpose of fashion jewelry is only fashion. The main factor which differentiates fashion jewelry from real jewelry is that real jewelry, besides style is purchased as investments and primary collectibles. However, nowadays high end fashion jewelry has also achieved a highly sophisticated status as a result of which its value is increasing. In the current scenario, fashion jewelry is a good way to invest as well as a trendy way to make yourself look fashionable.

Street Fashion: Hip Hop Fashion

Posted by admin | Fashion Style | Monday 6 September 2010 1:33 am

Street fashion is not an uncommon term for any of us. It is also known as “LA Street Style”. The term is mainly associated with youth culture and it mainly comes from urban centers. It refers to fashion that has emerged from the grassroots and not from the studios or catwalks. But mainstream fashion is often influenced by street fashion. In fact you will find many designers who have been inspired by street style. A number of styles come under this genre such as Teddy Boys, Hippies, Skinheads and so on. But the most popular of all is Hip Hop fashion.

Hip-Hop features a distinctive style. The early history of this fashion trend lies with the African-American, Latino and the Caribbean-American youth who were based on The 5 Boroughs, a famous city of New York. Though originated from The 5 Boroughs, Hip Hop style was influenced by various other places including East Bay, Los Angeles, Detroit, Philadelphia, Chicago and The Dirty South.

The influence of all these places contributed to the overall style of Hip-Hop. The mingling of different elements make Hip-Hop what it is today and the style obviously reflect the expressions of hip-hop culture. If you notice carefully you will see that Hip-Hop never maintains a stereotypical style rather it has changed with the passing time. It has become a part of the popular culture across the world.

It is not only the young generation who has made its own new styles but the big brands also took on the Hip-Hop fashion which contributed to its ongoing popularity. Leather bomber jackets, sneakers, Dr. Marten’s boots etc dominated the fashion world of 1980s.

What is Fashion?

Posted by admin | Fashion Style | Thursday 2 September 2010 1:34 am

Many of us think that fashion applies just the clothes we wear, but in actual fact it can be applied to almost anything we do. Fashion is used to describe a means of expression. The terms “fashionable” and “unfashionable” are used to describe something that does or does not tally with the current popular mode of expression. Fashions can apply to many fields of human activity and thinking, including those such as architecture, music, speech, pastimes, etiquette, politics, and technology, to name but a few.

The broad use of the term fashion when applied to clothes was used in the past as a means of people showing solidarity with other people by their choice of clothes. However, in more realistic terms, today Modern Westerners have a wide choice of clothes available to them, and wearing what is currently in fashion is unlikely to be exactly the same as someone else. Nowadays what a person wears is more likely to be a reflection of their personal tastes and character, than wanting to imitate somebody else. However, when celebrities or people in the public eye start to wear new or different clothes, people tend to copy them and a new fashion develops, therefore the original term may still apply today.

Fashion is something that varies tremendously, not just in different eras, but also in the same generation but between different ages, social classes, professions and by location. The term “fashionista” has developed in the 21st century as a way of describing someone who is dedicated to fashion, and the development of this term is indicative of the role fashion and trends play in the contemporary age.

Fashion Weeks

Posted by admin | Fashion Style | Monday 30 August 2010 9:30 am

Fashion Weeks are events held by designers or fashion houses to display their latest designs and creations to the world’s media and fashion buyers. Catwalk shows are the mainstays of these weeks which are held around the world and which attract mass attention globally. The primary fashion weeks are held in the style capitals, London, Milan, Paris and New York, but there are many others that take place in lesser known areas of the fashion world, and are designed to draw people’s attention to less prominent designers. These include Australian Fashion Week, Japan Fashion Week, South Africa Fashion Week, and Los Angeles Fashion week. In the main fashion cities, fashion weeks are held twice a year, displaying ‘autumn’ trends and their ‘spring’ collections. These are held a long time in advance of the actual season to allow adequate coverage and previews of the designs before the actual season. This is also done to give buyers a chace to purchase the designers’ creations, and so retail stores can use elements of the designers’ styles in their mass produced clothes for the High Street market.

Fashion Weeks are attended by buyers for major stores, the media, celebrities, and members of the entertainment industry. In years gone by, fashion weeks were predominantly used as commerical events, and only people in the industry attended them. Today, however they are lavish, exclusive events, attended by many celebrities and cause a media frenzy. The week is a 7-day extravaganza which often includes live music, lavish galas and charity events. Some shows are also open to selected members of the public, as well as some of the events that display the designer’s latest handbags, jewellery, shoes, hats and cosmetics. Many important fashion design schools now feature in contemporary Fashion Weeks as well.

Fashion Business School: Fashion And Business Go Hand In Hand With A Fashion Business School Degree

Posted by admin | Fashion Style | Sunday 29 August 2010 1:42 am

Okay, so it may sound a little funny but fashion business school is something that many fashion students are looking into now more than ever. Fashion business school does sound a bit ludicrous, but if you consider the reasons why people attend fashion school in the first place the idea of fashion and business together only make sense. Fashion degrees are about learning the ins and outs of the business and refining your skills whereas business courses are for people who want to manage or start a business of their own. For those out there already attending fashion school, it is a safe assumption to say that many of them dream of having their own line some day. A fashion line is a business, and that is where fashion business school courses can come into play.

Who Needs Fashion Business School…Right?

Who cares if you are a pro at making A-line dresses fit even the sloppiest of figures if you can’t run your business properly? It is insane to think that so many people are failing to consider the vital role that the fashion business industry plays in their chosen field. What would the fashion industry be if it weren’t for fashion business school? If nobody knew how to run a business there would be no Versace, no Louis Vuitton or Donna Karen.

Fashion in itself is a business, and those fashion students out there who are serious about their success will put some consideration into fashion business school courses. Just look at other industries, they all have their own business schools. I know people that have failed in the medical field due to poor business skills and management. So if you are serious about getting into fashion, they I would highly recommend checking out the business schools.

Ladies Fashion Apparel, Ladies Apparel Manufacturers, Fashionable Kurtis, Ladies Fashion Jeans

Posted by admin | Fashion Style | Saturday 21 August 2010 1:36 am

Ladies fashion apparel is constantly evolving in terms of style and silhouette. Today, women have access to a whole new range of fashion clothing. Ladies apparel manufacturers are seeing a surge in demand for ladies fashion apparel owing to increased fashion consciousness of women across the world.

Be it classic styles or current fads, ladies fashion apparel are becoming more and more popular. Some of this new direction may be more subtle, but it will be more evident as consumers begin shopping for their fall wardrobes. The good news is that the more tailored silhouettes and age appropriate clothes are offering more opportunity to accessorize this time.

Generally two basic facts fuel the change in ladies fashion apparel trends; novelty and conformity. Everyone likes to wear something new, and simultaneously, many of us like to keep pace with our traditional attires as well. While there is no crystal ball in this case to have an appropriate forecast, however ladies apparel manufacture with their constant innovations are predicting trends with latest fashion creations.

Many designer lines this year are showing simpler, more elegant clothing, reminiscent of the ladylike wear that takes us back to the past. The two most popular wears that is the fashionable kurtis and ladies fashion jeans show demure, feminine, and grown-up fashion, which would look good on a woman of 20 to 60. This new formality in ladies fashion apparel is a welcome relief from the hype and happiness that had pervaded fashion off lately.
